Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has pledged stronger collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor made the pledge while delivering his address at the 2026 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the NMA, Edo Branch, in Benin.

Represented by his deputy, Mr Dennis Idahosa, the governor described the association as a critical partner in the development of the state’s healthcare sector.

He commended NMA’s commitment to quality healthcare and professional standards.

The governor said that government alone could not address the challenges facing the health sector.

He called for stronger collaboration among government, private sector, professional bodies, development partners and healthcare practitioners.

He said public private partnerships, when properly managed, could improve healthcare services through better resources, technology, expertise and innovation.

Okpebholo also assured the association of continued dialogue and collaboration, saying that government remains committed to building a healthcare system that residents could trust.(NAN)
