Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has inaugurated Rev. Alfred Agbolaho, as Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, and Malam Musa Uduimoh as Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor also inaugurated the Consumer Protection Committee and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA).
The governor charged the new appointees to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, humility and commitment to public service.
Speaking at the inauguration at the Government House, Benin on Thursday , Okpebholo congratulated the appointees, stating that their appointments placed an important responsibility on them to serve the people of the state.
He reminded them that their positions were not only a responsibility to the people but also a responsibility before God.
The governor urged the appointees to perform their duties with integrity, dedication and humility, stressing that the interest of the people must remain above personal considerations.
He also called on the members to work together in unity and ensure that their decisions and actions produced meaningful results and lasting positive impacts across the state.
“I urge you to work together in unity, placing the interests of the people above personal considerations.
“May your decisions and actions produce meaningful results and create a lasting positive impact,” he said.
The Christian pilgrims welfare board chairman, while responding on behalf of the board, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in the members.
Agbolaho assured the governor that the board would work diligently to promote the interests and welfare of Christian pilgrims in the state.
On his part the chairman of the Muslim pilgrims welfare board, also thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and his commitment to the welfare of pilgrims.
Uduimoh commended the administration for its efforts to strengthen the management of pilgrimage affairs in the state.
He assured that the board would support the government in providing efficient, transparent and satisfactory services to intending pilgrims.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Destiny, commended the governor for constituting the committee and pledged the members’ commitment to protecting consumers.
Also inaugurated by Okpebholo was Momodu Oghenakhoghie as Director-General of Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA). (NAN)
