Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen has commended Global Alliance on its efforts that enabled Nigeria to get the hosting right for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) beginning on Nov.15 in Abuja.
Tajudeen gave the commendation when a delegation led by the President of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Abuja.
The delegation included Prof. Justin Green, the President and Chief Executive of Global Alliance; Vice President of NIPR, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura; and other members of Council.
Tajudeen said he was not just happy because more than 3,000 delegates from 126 countries will come to Nigeria, but that the opportunity would help showcase a lot of progress being recorded in the country to the world.
“I want to thank Prof. Green for all you do for Nigeria and Africa and I want to assure you that we will not let you down.
“I want to also commend Neliaku for his ‘never die spirit’ and doggedness to ensure the WPRF comes to Nigeria. The National Assembly will support you to make this a reality.
“The House of Representatives and the Senate work seamlessly, harmoniously and collaborate when necessary.
“Before the end of our term in the National Assembly, we will ensure women inclusivity in the country through Executive Bill by providing Special Seats for Women at National and subnational levels.
“It will come any moment, because President Bola Tinubu has taken it to the Attorney-General of the Federation for proper works.
“Similarly, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will have a say in the House of Representatives, and also at the subnational levels. All these will be done soon,” Tajudeen said.
He further explained that the National Assembly would soon have an ‘Open Day’ when citizens would interact with lawmakers to move the country forward.
Tajudeen reiterated his support for the WPRF while commending Green and Neliaku for a job well done.
Also speaking, Green said he took knocks along the way to bring WPRF into Africa, adding that in 2015 it was a huge challenge.
He commended Tajudeen for the laudable works he had been doing for women, youths, children, PWDs and introducing legislation to support them in a short time since he became speaker of the House.
“While the blood of Global Alliance runs through me, I think the heart of Global Alliance is in a man like you who actually delivers in all elements; from young, old and all citizens.
“When I became the President of the Global Alliance, I expanded the board to include six African countries. It was never done before.
“From my experiences of travelling across Africa and attending conferences, Africans alway say they need to tell their own story.
“Africa is not rising, it has risen. I have given up everything in the last two years to make this happen. And you have been supporting and driving Nigeria’s flag in hosting this event.
“On behalf of the Board of Global Alliance and delegates, we will be expecting you at the WPRF 2026 and to also give a speech,” Green said.
Similarly, Neliaku narrated how the hosting right was won by Nigeria, which was based on merit and capacity.
He explained that after winning, Nigeria was again made to defend the hosting right.
Neliaku commended Tajudeen and Green for the support for Africa and Nigeria to host the WPRF 2026 in Abuja.
