The family of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced his death at the age of 66.
The family announced his passing on Sunday in a statement shared on social media.
“With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the family of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo announces his passing today, 23rd August, 2026,” the statement said.
The family prayed for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and for Allah to grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
The actor’s death came days after his family disclosed that he was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for medical assistance.
The family said the deceased would be buried according to Islamic rites on Monday.
It stated that the burial would take place at the Pavilion, Ilaro, Ogun.
Taiwo Hassan was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, filmmaker and director.
His death has sparked reactions from colleagues, fans and other stakeholders in the Nigerian entertainment industry. (NAN)
