Family Homes Funds Ltd. (FHFL) says it will deliver 10,000 social housing units by 2030 under a programme that will also empower 100,000 women and train 100,000 artisans nationwide.
The programme document headlined, ‘Social Housing Implementation Plan’ was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the institution’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
NAN reports that FHFL is a Nigerian social housing finance institution established to expand access to affordable housing through innovative financing, strategic partnerships, and sustainable housing development.
The institution finances affordable housing projects by partnering with developers, governments, and financial institutions to increase housing supply, reduce the housing deficit, and strengthen the housing value chain.
According to the document, the Social Housing Programme to be completed in 2030 will build sustainable communities and improve livelihoods.
FHFL said the initiative would combine innovative financing, sustainable construction methods and strategic partnerships to expand access to affordable housing.
According to the document, the housing projects would be executed in phases across key regions based on identified housing needs.
It stated that public-private partnerships would mobilise funding, facilitate land access and strengthen institutional support for housing delivery.
The programme will provide affordable housing finance options to enhance homeownership among low- and middle-income households.
According to the document, Alternative Building Technology and other low-carbon materials will be promoted to improve sustainability.
It added that housing projects would incorporate passive cooling systems, solar energy and natural lighting to improve energy efficiency.
The document said locally sourced building materials would be prioritised to reduce environmental impact and support domestic industries.
It stated that 100,000 disadvantaged women would be empowered through opportunities created under the housing programme.
The programme also targets training 100,000 artisans with construction skills to strengthen housing delivery and expand employment opportunities.
According to the document, host communities will participate in project planning and implementation to encourage ownership and sustainability.
It added that governance structures would be strengthened while livelihood opportunities would be integrated into housing developments.
The document said the programme aligns with national housing policies and the Sustainable Development Goals.
It added that grants, subsidies and partnerships with development finance institutions would be explored to improve affordability and expand housing delivery.
FHFL said the initiative reflects its commitment to reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit through inclusive, environmentally sustainable and community-driven housing solutions.
The institution expressed confidence that the programme would promote economic empowerment, strengthen local capacity and improve living conditions across participating communities.
