) Rep. Inuwah Garba (APC-Gombe) has pledged to champion peace and reconciliation process to resolve farmer-herder crisis in the country.
Garba made the pledge on Thursday in Abuja after the World Human Rights and Peace Commission (WHRAPC-Nigeria) conferred on him, the prestigious Global Peace Ambassador award.
The lawmaker represents the Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives.
He promised to reflect on the significance of the honour to organise a peace and dialogue symposium to address the prevalent farmer-header crisis in the country.
He said such intervention would start from his immediate constituency toward promoting peaceful co-existence, among different ethnic groups.
The lawmaker said that the confidence reposed in his capacity would spur him to promote the commission and its ideals to a higher pedestal across the globe.
“I want to thank the leadership and membership of this commission for this honour it extended to my family, constituency and indeed, to the House of Representatives.
“Let me assure you that your decision to find me worthy through the selection and screening process will not be in vain.
“I am very conversant with the challenges confronting humanity, be it in the war front, homes, in terms of global warming and so on.
“I assure you that I will work tirelessly to contribute my quota to promote and protect this commission’s ideals in all ramifications, not only in Nigeria, but across the globe.
“I know the issues. it is my responsibility to ensure all hands are on deck to ensure peace in homes and communities, ” the lawmaker said.
Garba described the honour as another milestone in his life, family, constituency and the House of Representatives.
He described the honour as a gesture he would hold in high esteem.
Presenting the award, the Deputy Country Cordinator of WHRAPC-Nigeria, Amb. Lawal Ribah, said that Garba had served Nigeria with integrity and excellence throughout his distinguished political career.
Ribah said Garba had consistently championed policies that promoted good governance, accountability, economic growth, and social justice.
According to him, Garba sponsored significant bills aimed at expanding entrepreneurship, agricultural development, scientific advancement, and institutional growth.
“Garba’s numerous motions have addressed critical national issues.
“These issues include healthcare, infrastructure, industrialisation, security, disaster management, electricity supply, environmental challenges, and the welfare of Nigerian citizens.
“Beyond legislation, Garba has demonstrated an enduring commitment to community development through impactful constituency projects, “ he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, Amb. Bashir Maradun described the event as a celebration of excellence, selfless service, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the promotion of peace, justice, human rights as well as sustainable development.

He said that the honour was reserved for individuals whose lives and public service continued to inspire hope, foster unity, and contribute meaningfully to humanity.
According to him, Garba has distinguished himself through dedicated leadership, integrity, and a passion for the welfare of the people.
