Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has commended President Bola Tinubu for demonstrating commitment and faith in seeking divine intervention for peace and security in Nigeria, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

AbdulRazaq, represented by his Senior Special Adviser and Counsellor, Dr Saadu Salaudeen, made the commendation on Friday in Ilorin at the inauguration of a mosque built in memory of the late Alhaji Imam Busari Shao.

The governor said the recent visits by Tinubu and other Nigerian leaders to the Holy Land for lesser hajj to pray for Nigeria demonstrated their strong faith in Allah and commitment to seeking divine solutions to the country’s challenges.

He said the leaders’ decision to take the nation’s challenges before Allah underscored their belief in prayer as a powerful means of seeking peace, security and divine intervention.

According to him, the prayers are particularly important as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.

AbdulRazaq expressed hope that Allah would grant the country peaceful and credible elections that would benefit all Nigerians without the loss of lives.

“We pray that we have peaceful and credible elections that will benefit all Nigerians and that we do not lose a single soul among us because of the election,” he said.

He said the leaders’ actions demonstrated their sustained commitment and faith in Allah as the ultimate sustainer of mankind and provider of peace and security.

The governor also commended the mosque’s founder, Alhaji Abdullamidi Busari, for providing a place of worship for the Muslim community in the area.

He described the construction of a mosque as a highly rewarding act in Islam, noting that Islamic teachings encouraged Muslims to contribute to the establishment of places of worship.

“Every informed Muslim would desire to have a mosque because the Ulamas preach often that when one has the opportunity to build such a mosque, Allah, in His infinite mercies, has promised such a person a great place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus,” he said.

AbdulRazaq congratulated the mosque’s founder on the initiative and prayed that Allah would reward him abundantly for the gesture.

He also prayed that Allah would grant the late Imam Busari Shao Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

In his remarks, the mosque founder, Busari said the programme was not merely the inauguration of a mosque but a celebration of faith, remembrance and the enduring legacy of a father whose life and contributions remained deeply cherished by his family and community.

“We believe that the construction of this mosque represents a meaningful way of preserving our father’s memory and continuing to honour his legacy through an act of worship that will benefit generations to come,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inauguration ceremony was performed by Alfa Soliu Modibbo, while members of the Muslim community and other dignitaries attended the event to celebrate the establishment of the mosque.(NAN)
