No fewer than 500 senior Nigerian professionals are expected to acquire practical digital, financial, entrepreneurial and health skills at the 2026 National Pre-Retirement Summit (NPS).
The summit, themed “Own Your Retirement: From Planning to Action” and organised by XEM Consultants Ltd., is scheduled for Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
Dr Eugenia Ndukwe, Chief Executive Officer, XEM Consultants Ltd., said the summit was designed to equip senior professionals with strategies and skills to make retirement productive and fulfilling.
Ndukwe said the programme would help participants determine how to live, earn income and pursue purpose after active service.
“This summit will focus on financial management and planning, health and wellness, entrepreneurship and investment, estate and wealth management, as well as agricultural enterprise systems.”
According to her, digital innovation is changing how people work, earn income and live, creating opportunities for senior professionals to remain productive beyond formal employment.
Ndukwe said XEM Consultants had partnered Galaxy Backbone to provide participants with digital skills, knowledge and tools to explore opportunities created by digital technology.
She said the digital component would expose participants to tools that could support business management, investment monitoring and remote income generation.
“My vision is to transform the retirement discourse in Africa and make retirement a period that every professional looks forward to.
“The summit will promote a new narrative in which ageing will be associated with opportunities for continued contribution to the economy and society.
“It is expected to help participants develop personalised retirement plans based on their financial circumstances, career goals, health needs and post-service aspirations.
“In financial planning, participants will learn ways to structure investment portfolios, optimise pension arrangements and preserve wealth against inflation and currency risks,” Ndukwe said.
She said that entrepreneurship sessions would provide practical approaches to establishing post-service businesses with limited capital, including consulting, distributorship, board appointments and legacy enterprises.
The chief executive officer also said that participants would also receive preventive health and wellness strategies to support healthy living during the 20 years to 30 years that could follow retirement.
Dr Maurice Mbaeri, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said the summit was designed to transform retirement from a period of uncertainty into active and productive engagement.
Mbaeri said more than 100 public and private sector organisations had confirmed participation, while between 600 and 800 professionals were expected physically and more than 2,000 virtually.
He said participants would also have opportunities to interact directly with institutions in the pension, investment, wealth management and healthcare sectors.
The Chairman of the Board of PenCom is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that partners include Galaxy Backbone, BPSR, African Independent Television, NLC, AIICO Capital, De Sadel Consortium, Medigace Mobile Care Services and Trustfund Pensions.
Other participating sectors include pension fund administrators, banks, insurance companies, Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs), asset managers, real estate firms, fintechs, professional bodies and government institutions. (NAN)
