Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has assured communities affected by recent bandit attacks of his administration’s commitment to strengthening security and protecting lives and property.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Director-General on Media and Publicity, Mr. Sanusi Bature, on Tuesday.
The governor condemned the recent bandit attacks reported in four Local Government Areas, including Chiromawa in Garun Mallam LGA, Beli in Rogo LGA, Bebeji LGA, as well as some communities around Gwarzo.
Gov. Yusuf, who sympathised with the victims and families affected by the attacks, described the incidents as deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
He assured the affected communities that the government, in collaboration with security agencies, would take all necessary measures to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among residents.
The governor said he had already directed relevant authorities to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response mechanisms in the affected areas.
He urged residents of those communities to remain calm and avoid actions that could further heighten tension.
“Government is working closely with security agencies to address the situation,” the governor assured.
He also urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and provide credible information that could assist in preventing further attacks and apprehending the perpetrators.
The governor commended security personnel for their efforts and urged them to sustain intelligence-led operations to protect vulnerable communities across the state.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, a speedy recovery for the injured, and the safe return of any abducted persons.
