Federal Fire Service has expressed readiness to establish an additional substations in seven Local Government Areas in Adamawa.
Ahmed Ado, Zonal Controller Xone Q Yola, disclosed this at the commemoration of 2026 Fire Week on Tuesday in Yola with the theme: “Building A Fire-resilient Nigeria: One Community At A Time”.
He said Adamawa Command has done well in protecting lives and property across the state.
“Accordingly, the Command has identified strategic locations for the proposed establishment of additional fire service substations and inspectorate offices.
“These include Mubi, Hong, Numan, Gombi, Fufore, Yola North and Yola South.
“The initiative is intended to improve emergency response time, strengthen fire safety inspections, expand public awareness and make our services more accessible to residents across the state,” Ado said.
He appealed to the Adamawa Government, local government authorities, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to partner with the Service in making the move a reality.
According to him, the successful implementation of these plans will require the necessary approvals, suitable facilities, personnel, equipment and logistical support.
He said the theme of the event is a reminder that fire safety is a collective responsibility, adding that protecting lives and property requires the combined efforts of government, communities, institutions, businesses and individuals.
In his remarks, Nathan Watiwari, the State Controller, charged officers and men to remain steadfast, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, it is far better and cheaper to prevent a fire than to battle its aftermath.
“Through shared responsibility, sustained awareness, and deliberate actions, we can secure our communities and build a safer Adamawa for today and the future”, he said.
Watiwari lauded the Adamawa government, sister agencies, stakeholders and members of the public for their support and participation in its campaign activities.
He urged for collective efforts to make homes, markets, schools and workplaces safe from fire.(NAN)
