The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to citizen-focused policing to combat crime and build public trust.

Giwa said this on Thursday in Enugu while delivering an opening address at a security stakeholders’ engagement organised as part of the 2026 Customer Service Week of the Nigeria Police Force.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the celebration has the theme: ‘The Extra Mile’.

Giwa said putting citizens first required listening to their concerns, responding proactively and delivering policing services with professionalism, respect and integrity.

He explained that going the extra mile, in line with the citizen-first strategy, involved continually improving service delivery.

According to him, achieving the objectives requires strengthening police-community partnerships and ensuring that members of the public are treated with dignity and fairness.

The commissioner appreciated residents for their continued trust and cooperation with the police.

He urged them to sustain their partnership with the command in preventing crime, maintaining peace and building safer communities.

“The command will continue to improve its services and go the extra mile in providing effective and citizen-focused policing across the state,” he said.

Giwa said the celebration, organised in line with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan, provided an opportunity to appreciate residents for their trust and partnership.

He added that the event also aimed to strengthen public support and collaboration with the police to enhance effective policing and community safety. (NAN)
