
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr Hussain Yusuf-Datti, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as winner of the by-election for Dawakin Kudu constituency of Kano state.
Prof. Ibrahim Tajo-Suraj, the Returning Officer for the election declared Yusuf-Datti winner of the election on Saturday in Dawakin Kudu.
Ibrahim said that Yusuf-Datty polled 22,890 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Mr Habib Hamisu of Peoples Redemption Party, who scared 270 votes.
Ibrahim further disclosed that Mr Abdullahi Adamu of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 108 votes, while Mr Bala Mohammed-Sani of the Action Democratic Party, secured 89 votes.
He added that Mr Aliyu Abdullahi of the All Peoples Party, scored 53 votes, adding that Mr Abubakar Yahya-Mohammed of the Labour Party had 39 votes.
“Therefore, Mr Hussain Yusuf-Datti of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and return elected,”he said.(NAN)
