The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is doomed to lose the 2027 presidential election because it chose Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso as its vice-presidential candidate.
This is contained in a statement by the party’s Secretary General, Mr Ogini Olaposi on Monday.
Olaposi slammed the selection as a gross mistake and a profound betrayal of God and humanity.
He asserted that political parties must exercise extreme caution when choosing flag bearers and running mates, pointing to Kwankwaso’s history as the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate.
The NNPP national secretary accused Kwankwaso of attempting to hijack the party that brought him into the political limelight and stated, “Once a betrayer, always a betrayer and posterity will prove us right.”

Olaposi dismissed assertions that Dr Boniface Aniebonam NNPP Founder, ‘dashed’ the platform to Kwankwaso as preposterous, noting that the original certificate of registration was never handed over to the Board of Trustees.
The NNPP secretary argued that while the 2023 election gave Kwankwaso a rare opportunity and a free ticket, he ultimately stabbed the party in the back, drove members away in droves, and failed to appreciate the platform’s benevolence even as he finished a distant fourth behind Peter Obi.
He warned that the NDC will face a similar fate, cautioning that voters looked closely at the antecedents of running mates, who could potentially assume the presidency.
He dismissed large rally crowds as rented and transient, stating that the NDC would soon realise that optics do not translate to actual votes.
Furthermore, Olaposi criticised Kwankwaso for previously treating Obi as a junior political partner, only to now “follow him behind carrying his bag.”
The NNPP urged the NDC founder, Seriaka Dickson, to activate co-founders to protect the party structure from Kwankwaso, while inviting all deceived NNPP members to return home ahead of the 2027 general elections.(NAN)
