The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) has tasked participants of its Work Ethics and Organisational Performance Course 8/2026 to apply knowledge acquired to improve productivity and organisational efficiency in their workplaces.
The Director-General of NARC, retired Maj.-Gen. James Myam, gave the charge during the graduation of the participants, on Friday in Abuja.
Myam urged the participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the five-day programme to improve performance and promote harmonious working relationships in their respective organisations.
He said work ethics was critical to organisational survival, given the diverse social and psychological backgrounds of employees.
According to him, effective management of workplace dynamics can promote harmony and create an environment where employees work constructively towards organisational objectives.
The NARC DG described the participants as representatives of their respective services and organisations, urging them to become change agents.
He encouraged them to share the knowledge acquired with colleagues and contribute to addressing practices that hinder productivity and workplace effectiveness.
Myam cautioned against blaming organisational systems for poor performance without making deliberate efforts to identify and address practices contributing to inefficiency.
He also highlighted networking as an important benefit of the programme, urging participants to sustain professional relationships developed during the course.
He said such networks could strengthen collaboration and facilitate the exchange of ideas among personnel from different institutions.
The course coordinator, retired Brig.-Gen. Ferdinand Eze, said the centre would assess the effectiveness of the programme through feedback from participants after returning to their workplaces.
Eze said feedback from previous programmes had generally been positive, indicating that participants had applied lessons learnt to improve performance in their organisations.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Navy Lt. Temilade Egbewumi, said the course had strengthened their understanding of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct.
She said the programme also reinforced the responsibility of leaders to motivate, support and effectively guide their subordinates while maintaining constructive relationships with senior personnel.
The participants were exposed to workplace ethics, organisational culture, value-based leadership, decision-making, performance management, communication, interpersonal relations, team building and workplace administration.
The course brought together junior and middle-cadre personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, paramilitary organisations, corporate bodies and civil society. (NAN)
