Former Imo governorship candidate, Mr Uche Nwosu, has received the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development in New Jersey, United States.
Nwosu, who served as Chief of Staff to former Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha and is President of the Ugwumba Centre for Leadership Development in Africa (UCLA), disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said the award was presented by the Mayor of East Orange, Ted Green, during a meeting that also inaugurated a strategic partnership between the city and the Ugwumba Centre.
According to him, the collaboration will promote leadership development, human capacity building and sustainable development through initiatives that will benefit communities in Nigeria and the United States.
Nwosu thanked Green for the recognition and the warm reception accorded to his delegation.
“I am deeply humbled to receive the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development and to be decorated with the official City Pin by Mayor Ted Green.
“I sincerely appreciate this recognition and the hospitality extended to my team. Together, we are building bridges that will create lasting opportunities and strengthen the future of our communities,” he said.
He said the Ugwumba Centre for Leadership Development in Africa had empowered more than 10,000 youths and 5,000 women through skills acquisition, mentorship and seed capital support.
Nwosu reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to expanding partnerships that promote inclusive development and youth empowerment across Africa. (NAN)
