The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, has urged eligible residents to take advantage of the two-week extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Ayobami Salami, made this appeal in a statement signed by Mr Taiwo Gbadegesin, the commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state.
He said the exercise, which began on Aug. 18, 2025, and was initially scheduled to end on July 10 would now close on July 26.
According to him, the extension is aimed at providing more eligible residents who are yet to register with an additional opportunity to be included in the Register of Voters ahead of future elections.
Salami said: “To further enhance accessibility, the commission announced the introduction of a self-service online registration option for eligible first-time voters.
“The online registration will commence on Wednesday, July 8, allowing prospective registrants to complete the process using their personal devices through the commission’s dedicated CVR portal.
“The platform offers a user-friendly, step-by-step registration process and incorporates robust identity verification and biometric validation to protect the integrity of the National Register of Voters.”
Salami urged all eligible residents who were yet to register to take advantage of the extended registration period and the new online registration platform.
“Eligible residents should seize this opportunity to register and ensure they are included in the Register of Voters ahead of future elections,” Salami said. (NAN)
