Mr Larry Ven-Bawa, the member representing Akwanga North Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has distributed 1,500 bags of fertiliser to farmers in his constituency to boost food production and enhance food security.

Ven-Bawa, who is the Chief Whip of the House, flagged off the fourth edition of his Annual Value Addition Agricultural Empowerment Scheme on Monday in Akwanga Local Government Area.

“Today, I am distributing two and a half trailers of NPK 20:10:10 fertiliser to the farmers of my constituency. Traditional rulers, groups and individuals are also beneficiaries.

“The essence is to ensure food security and complement the government’s efforts in the agricultural sector,” he said.

The lawmaker said he had continued to implement empowerment programmes in agriculture, education, health, employment and other sectors to improve the welfare of his constituents.

Ven-Bawa commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for executing various development projects in Akwanga North Constituency, particularly road construction.

He also congratulated the governor on his victory at the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary and the Nasarawa North bye-election, assuring him of the constituency’s continued support.

Speaking at the event, Sule described the fertiliser distribution as consistent with the state’s agricultural policy aimed at achieving food security.

He commended Ven-Bawa for demonstrating commitment to the welfare of his constituents through people-oriented programmes.

“I am here because Ven-Bawa has demonstrated commitment and love for his people. He has shown that he cares about them and has done well,” the governor said.

Sule pledged to construct more roads in Akwanga North Constituency and other parts of the state, including the Bassa Road, to facilitate agricultural activities and development.

He also appreciated the people of the constituency for their support during the APC senatorial primary and the Nasarawa North bye-election.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, commended Ven-Bawa for the intervention, saying it would boost agricultural production and improve food security.

Jatau urged the people of the constituency to continue supporting the lawmaker and appealed to the governor to prioritise the construction of the Bassa road to enhance socio-economic development.

In their separate remarks, the Chun Mada, Dr Samson Gamu-Yare, Sen. Danladi Envulanza (APC-Nasarawa North), the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Yakubu Kwanta, and the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area, Mr Safiyanu Isa Andaha, lauded the lawmaker for the initiative.

They said the distribution of fertiliser would encourage farming activities, increase crop yields and contribute to food security in the constituency and the state.
