The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved members following its recently concluded primary elections, as part of measures to strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The State Chairman of the party, Mr Bege Katuka, disclosed this in a statement jointly signed by the State Secretary, Mustapha Ahmed, on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Katuka said ongoing consultations and reconciliation meetings involving aspirants, stakeholders and party leaders had recorded significant progress, stressing that internal cohesion remained vital to the party’s electoral prospects.
According to him, although the primaries conducted between May 25 and May 30 witnessed challenges in some parts of the state, the party remained committed to addressing all grievances through established internal mechanisms.
“The party’s internal grievance resolution mechanisms remain open to all aspirants and members seeking redress over concerns arising from the exercise,” he said.
Katuka explained that engagements initiated immediately after the primaries had helped to reduce tensions and foster greater understanding among contestants and party stakeholders.
He commended governorship aspirants and other stakeholders for demonstrating maturity, patience and commitment throughout the reconciliation process.
“We are encouraged by the positive response from our members and stakeholders.
“Their cooperation has strengthened our resolve to build a more united and formidable platform ahead of future electoral contests,” he said.
The chairman added that the party had announced strategic appointments aimed at strengthening its structures and improving coordination across the state.
He appealed to members and supporters to avoid actions capable of undermining the reconciliation efforts.
“We appeal to all party members and supporters to eschew inflammatory statements and avoid unsubstantiated rumours being peddled by those who do not mean well for our party,” he said.
Katuka reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy, inclusiveness and peaceful conflict resolution.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing reconciliation efforts would further position the ADC as a formidable political force in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
