“Agbara Nla: The Return” grosses N71m, tops weekend chart

​ Faith-based  film “Agbara Nla: The Return,” a remake of the 1993  classic “Agbara  Nla,” has smashed Nigerian box office records, grossing over ₦71 million to emerge as the number one film of the week.

The film, released in cinemas on Oct. 1, is a production of collaboration of Mount Zion Film Productions,  Sozo Films, and Circuits.

The News Agency of NAN reports that a co-director of the film Damilola Mike-Bamiloye made the announcement on his official Instagram page@damilolamikebamiloye.

The post reads: “LORD! WE GIVE YOU THE GLORY!!!

“From pre-production to production, post-production, and distribution, we have seen the faithfulness of God every step of the way.

“What began as a vision has become a reality, and we know that God alone made it possible.

“Through every challenge, every breakthrough, every delay, every provision, and every open door, His hand has been evident.

“We give all the glory, honour, and praise to Jesus Christ for the journey of AGBARA NLA – The Return.This is God’s doing, and we are grateful”.

NAN reports that the original hit, “Agbara Nla,” also known as “The Ultimate Power” was released in 1993, and became one of the most popular Christian films across Nigeria and beyond.

The film explored themes of spiritual warfare, portraying the battle between good and evil through depictions of witchcraft, occult practices and demonic forces.

It also emphasised the importance of faith, prayer, evangelism, and the virtues obedience and commitment in one’s marriage and ministry.

According to the producers, the remake, “Agbara Nla: The Return” revisits the iconic storyline for a new generation of viewers while preserving its central message of the supremacy of God’s power over evil.

It is directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, with seasoned cast, including   Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Bamiloye as Kola, and Aanu Kolade-Abiodun as Bose, with Mike Bamiloye’s  return to play his famous role as Isawuru.(NAN)
