World Rugby educators have arrived in Nigeria for a five-day technical capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening coaching and officiating structures in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme, organised by the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), is scheduled to hold from Sept. 9 to Sept. 13 in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the federation through its Media Officer, Tolu Oguntimehin.
According to the statement, the programme will feature Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching, Level 1 and Level 2 Match Officiating, First Aid in Rugby, Intensive Care in Rugby (ICIR) and Safeguarding Essentials.
It said assessments would also be conducted for Level 2 Match Officiating and World Rugby Educators.
The statement said the programme would include quality assurance assessments for Nigerian educators Wuraola Hussain and Olatubosun Johnson.
It added that Mohammed Salisu was expected to complete his Match Officiating Educator course assessment.
The federation said Dr Fikunola Orafidiya had successfully completed his quality assurance assessment and had his World Rugby Educator licence renewed.
It said Orafidiya would be monitored in Abuja as he prepares to deliver another Level 2 ICIR course.
The NRFF urged coaches’ associations, the Referees Society and other technical personnel to mobilise their members to participate in the programme.
The federation said the exercise would provide an opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s coaching and officiating structures and develop a more qualified technical workforce.
It described the visit as the final planned World Rugby visit under the current development programme.(NAN)
