Mr Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, Chairman, Agege Local Government has graduated young learners who participated in the council’s Robotics and Coding Programme.
A statement on Friday by Mr Rasheed Olayiwola, Supervisor for Information of the council said Obasa was represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr Sodiq Azeez, at the certificate presentation ceremony.
It said the programme featured pupils selected from government owned nursery and primary schools and some secondary school across Agege Local Government.
The statement added that, a Robotics and Coding Practical Showcase highlighted the ceremony, with pupils demonstrating projects developed during their training.
It said outstanding participants were recognised in two categories.
It said Obasa reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to initiatives that strengthen intellectual, creative and technological development of children in Agege.
He said the programme was designed to introduce learners to coding, robotics, computational thinking and practical applications of technology from an early age.
He congratulated every child who had completed the programme, saying, robotics and coding were necessary modern literacy skills.
Obasa said the council remained committed to investing in the intellectual development of children and expanding opportunities for them to compete globally.
The Team Lead, Mrs Adenike Jegede said the initiative was designed to make technology accessible to help children discover their creative potentials.
“This programme was designed to demystify technology for our children, we have seen pupils confidently assemble robots and write basic codes,” she said.
Jegede described the training as the future of Agege and expressed joy for being part of it.
The Head of Information and Communication Technology, Mr Oladimeji Olayiwola, commended the council leadership for providing an enabling environment for the programme.
He expressed hope that subsequent editions would be more impactful.(NAN)
