Gwarzo council sponsors 20 women for free midwifery training

), Aug. 18, 2026 (NAN) Gwarzo Local Government Council in Kano State has sponsored 20 women for free midwifery training.

The Chairman of the council, Dr Mani Tsoho, disclosed this while presenting admission letters to the beneficiaries, shortly after the Gwarzo Area Security Council meeting on Tuesday.

Tsoho said that the initiative was part of efforts to promote education and improve healthcare delivery in the local government area.

He said that providing women with access to education, particularly in healthcare, would help increase the number of skilled health workers and contribute to improving community health.

The chairman commended the Kano State Government for prioritising education, saying that investment in the sector was important for improving living standards and developing skilled manpower.

He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and maintain good conduct throughout their training.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government and Gwarzo Local Government Council for the scholarship.

They pledged to take their studies seriously, and use the knowledge and skills acquired to serve their communities and contribute to the development of Gwarzo and Kano State.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of Gwarzo LGA, Speaker of the Legislative Council, political office holders, Hakimin Gwarzo, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta of Kano, security personnel and other dignitaries. (NAN)
