) The First African Church Mission (TFIACM) has elected Most Rev. Christian-John Ogbonnaya as its new Primate and Elder Ayorinde Ajala as Deputy Lay President.
The church tasked the new leadership with sustaining its missionary activities and strengthening its impact on society.
The church made this known in a communique issued in Lagos on Friday at its ongoing 135th Annual Conference at its Prayer City, Omo-Ijebu, Lagos State.
The communique was signed by a committee chaired by Rt. Rev. David Oladele, with Mr Seun Adekoya as Secretary and Mr Femi Ojeyinde, Mrs Kemi Komolafe and Ven. Livingstone Okwa as members.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the conference, with the theme: “Let Us Do It Now,” began on Aug. 10 and will end on Aug. 16.
According to the church, the election of the new leadership marks the end of the tenure of the outgoing Primate, His Eminence Sunday Matilukuro, who will disengage from the TFIACM ministry on Sept. 30.
It congratulated Matilukuro on the successful completion of his tenure and also congratulated the Primate-elect and other newly elected leaders on their emergence at the election of the College of Bishops.
The church also expressed appreciation to God over the completion and dedication of the Primate Palace on Aug. 4.
It said that the development was historic as it would enable the Primate to officially reside in the palace for the first time in the history of the mission.
The church said that it would continue to pray for Nigeria’s leaders to pilot the affairs of the country with the fear of God.
It also urged parents to devote adequate time to the upbringing of their children, to build a better country.
“The incoming Primate and General Council should ensure that the model school should not just be a vision but a reality in the not-too-distant future,” the church said.
It said that the reconstituted members of its Board of Trustees were presented at the session and their status confirmed by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The church also congratulated Ven. Joel Yokti, Bishop-elect of the proposed Juntan Diocese. (NAN)
