More than 250 residents of Amassoma, Bayelsa, have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Tinubu Torch Bearers, Bayelsa Chapter.
The outreach, led by the group’s State Coordinator, Dame Julie Donli, included medical consultations, treatment and medication for residents with various health complaints.
The beneficiaries included elderly residents who sought attention for eye-related conditions, while children were treated for common ailments, including malaria and cough.
Donli in a statement on Saturday said the initiative was aimed at bringing basic healthcare services closer to vulnerable residents in the community.
She said the group would continue to support initiatives that improve access to healthcare at the grassroots.
According to her, the Federal Government’s Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative is focused on strengthening primary healthcare delivery and improving access to essential health services.
Donli said the outreach was part of the organisation’s efforts to engage communities through practical interventions.
She appreciated individuals and community leaders who supported the outreach, including Chief Godwill Akedesuo, Acting Amananowei of Amassoma, and High Chief Ere Efeke.
Dr Genevieve Mordi, South-South Zonal Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, also attended the event to support the Bayelsa chapter.
Mordi provided cash support to some participants after they received medical attention.
Donli said Mordi’s presence reinforced collaboration among members of the organisation in the South-South zone.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the free consultations, medical attention and medications provided during the outreach.
Donli said the group would continue to explore ways of supporting vulnerable residents at the community level. (NAN)
