Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, has begun the distribution of relief materials to victims of fire outbreak in Aiyetoro area in Makoko community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that fire outbreak occured in the month of June in the community, though no life was lost.
The Council’s Chairman, Mr Bayo Adefuye, at the distribution of the relief materials by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), reaffirmed his administration’s continuous protection for the affected residents.
Adefuye said that the intervention, facilitated through NEMA, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, aimed to restore hope to affected families.
He said that the relief materials included various food items such as rice, garri, groundnut oil, among others, distributed to the affected households.
“I want to commend President Bola Tinubu for remaining a compassionate leader, using swift intervention in ensuring that the affected victims receive timely support through NEMA.
“I also express appreciation to the agency for its professionalism and dedication in coordinating the distribution process.
“I want to assure the affected residents that government at all levels will remain committed at this difficult time,” Adefuye said.
Speaking on behalf of the victims, Mr Kehinde Alaka, said that the distribution of the relief materials had brought renewed hope and comfort to the affected families.
Alaka expressed gratitude to NEMA and the Yaba LCDA chairman for their prompt response and unwavering support. (NAN)
