Agege Local Government on Thursday commissioned a ₦200 million worth Aluminium Fabricators’ Hub to boost the Council’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and cut production costs.
A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the council said that the event was held at Aluminium Village, Dopemu, Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Mr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, Chairman of Agege Local Government, commissioned the facility with Mr. Charles Odii, Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Obasa said, “This is another milestone in our commitment to create an enabling environment where businesses flourish through collaboration and innovation.”
He added that the vision went beyond building structures and that it involved building an ecosystem that supported entrepreneurship and local manufacturing.
Obasa further said, “The hub will reduce production costs, improve logistics and expand market access for fabricators in Agege.”
Odii said that the investment reflected the Federal Government’s resolve to empower MSMEs through infrastructure that reduced cost and increased productivity.
“With shared facilities, artisans can compete better, create more jobs and grow the local economy,” he said.
Obasa added that the hub would provide secure storage, shared logistics, and stronger bargaining power for members in one of Nigeria’s largest aluminium clusters.
He said also that the project positioned Agege as a model for grassroots industrial growth and inclusive economic prosperity in Lagos State. (NAN)
