Rep. Salman Idris (APC-Kogi) says efforts are ongoing to establish military formations at the Kiri axis of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area and the Ayere-Akunu border axis of Ijumu Council Area of Kogi.
Idris, in a statement on Friday, said that the move, backed by a resolution of the House of Representatives, was aimed at tackling the growing menace of banditry, terrorism and kidnapping in the areas.
The lawmaker said that engagements between Committees on Defence, Army, Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence, and the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of Army Staff were ongoing.
According to him, the Kiri and Ayere-Akunu corridors occupy strategic positions as major transit routes linking the North Central geo-political zone
