Arsenal edge out Newcastle 1-0 to reclaim top spot on the English Premier League on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s men played through nervousness but were able to secure all three points through Eberechi Eze’s strike in the ninth minute at the Emirates.

The victory takes Arsenal back to winning ways after losing Against Bournemouth and title rivals, Manchester City.

Newcastle came close to equalizing but Yoane Wissa failed to bury a glorious late chance, blazing it over the bar.

The results means Arsenal returns to the top of the table with 73 points and 34 matches played, while Manchester City is second with 70 points and 33 matches played.

It was Newcastle’s 4th successive league defeat, leaving them in 14 place, but Manager Eddie Howe said he was pleased with his side’s performance.

“I can’t be too critical of the players today, it was a much better performance,” Howe said.
