The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Fatai Tijani, has directed senior officers to strengthen proactive policing, intelligence gathering and vigilance against criminal activities across the state.
Tijani gave the directive on Friday during a strategic security meeting involving Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Police Mobile Force commanders and tactical unit commanders.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the meeting reviewed the state’s security situation and reinforced operational readiness among officers.
The commissioner urged commanders to ensure effective supervision of personnel and respond swiftly to security challenges within their respective jurisdictions.
He also charged senior officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and instil the same values among officers under their command.
In a boost to the command’s operational capacity, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund donated 200 bulletproof helmets and 200 bulletproof vests to the police.
The equipment was presented by the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the state.
Ogunsan said the donation would enhance the ability of security personnel to protect lives and property more effectively.
Tijani expressed appreciation to the Trust Fund and its leadership for their continued support in strengthening security infrastructure across Lagos.
According to him, the donated protective equipment will improve operational effectiveness, boost officers’ confidence and enhance safety during frontline duties.
The commissioner also commended residents for supporting security operations through the provision of credible and timely information.
He noted that intelligence provided by members of the public had contributed significantly to crime prevention and detection efforts in the state.
Tijani appealed for greater collaboration between residents and the police, assuring them of the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and security.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency communication channels.
