The tour is designed to provide Nigerians with firsthand information on projects being implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and their impact on citizens across the country.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Tunde Rahman, Director, Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, on Thursday.

The projects inspected were the Ohafia–Umuahia Federal Road, a major transportation route linking communities and commercial centres in the state.

The delegation also visited the 67.6km Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Ohafia Road, a strategic state-financed corridor connecting several communities across Abia.

The road is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate movement of agricultural produce, reduce travel time, stimulate commerce and open rural communities to greater economic opportunities.

At the Omenuko Bridge along the Ohafia–Umuahia corridor, the team observed ongoing efforts to strengthen critical transportation infrastructure serving thousands of commuters and businesses.

A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Umuahia, a flagship Federal Government project comprising 1,200 housing units.

Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Mr Oyetunde Ojo, said procurement had been completed and contractors would soon commence work at the site.

According to him, the Abia Government provided the land and paid compensation to affected landowners, while the Federal Government is undertaking the construction through the FHA.

The project is expected to expand access to affordable housing, create jobs and stimulate economic activities within the state.

The delegation also visited the Onuinyan Bende Renewed Hope Housing Project, another major housing development aimed at addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit while promoting local economic growth.

The team further inspected the newly commissioned Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, a modern transport hub expected to improve traffic management, enhance commuter convenience and boost commercial activities.

Another project visited was the Owerri–Abia–Imo Federal Road, where ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation works are improving connectivity and easing transportation challenges.

Business owners and residents along the corridor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the project was already boosting economic activities and mobility.

The delegation also assessed progress on the Abia section of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, a strategic federal highway linking the South-East and South-South regions and facilitating interstate commerce.

Residents who interacted with the media team described the projects as evidence of efforts to address long-standing infrastructure challenges and improve living conditions.

The media delegation was led by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and Mr Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, alongside other presidential aides, media executives and journalists. (NAN)
