The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday held its North-West Zonal Congress in Kaduna, with a strong call for unity and consolidation of party structures across the region.
The congress, hosted by Gov. Uba Sani, took place at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall and drew key stakeholders, including governors, lawmakers, and party chieftains from across the zone.
In his remarks, Sani emphasised the need for cohesion within the party, noting that unity remained critical to sustaining electoral victories and delivering good governance.
“We must continue to strengthen our internal democracy and ensure that all members feel a sense of belonging.
“The APC is a party built on inclusiveness, and we must uphold that principle at all levels,” he said.
The governor further stressed the importance of aligning party structures with the developmental aspirations of the people, adding that the North-West remained strategic to the party’s national outlook.
“We are committed to deepening grassroots engagement and ensuring that our policies translate into tangible benefits for our citizens.
“This congress is not just about leadership selection, but about repositioning the party for future challenges,” Sani added.
He described the process as transparent and credible, expressing confidence that the new executives who emerged through consensus would strengthen party administration and mobilise support ahead of future political engagements.
Apart from Gov. Sani of Kaduna, other governors present at the congress include that of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi.
Other dignitaries present included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari.
The congress is part of ongoing efforts by the APC to strengthen its internal structures and enhance coordination across its zonal formations ahead of forthcoming political activities. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
