Mr Hashimu-Jibrin Gurku, Special Adviser to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, on Erosion Control and Waste Management, has urged the residents of the state to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the state.
The governor’s aide, who gave the advice in an interview the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Karu on Friday, said that the advice became necessary in the interest of public health and to check flooding in the state.
Gurku said that indiscriminate dumping of refuse was not only harmful to human health but also could cause erosion and flood management in the state.
“If the people of the state will do the needful by ensuring proper waste management, it will not only tackle challenges facing the environment today but will also bring speeding development to the state.
“I advise the people to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in gutters, water channels, market places among other places.
‘’This is because indiscriminate dumping of refuse is dangerous to human health and has a negative effect on societal development,’’ he said.
Gurku, who is a former member, state House of Assembly(Karu / Gitata constituency), thanked Sule for finding him worthy for the appointment.
He promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in order to ensure erosion control and proper waste
Gurku called on the people of the state and Nigerians at large to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed in the task ahead of them.
“I also want to assure you of my readiness to continue to mobilise my people and to give their maximum support to President Buhari, Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other leaders to succeed.”
