The management of Nasarawa State Health Insurance Scheme says arrangement had been concluded for the take off of the scheme in the state.
Dr Gwamna Gaza, the Executive Secretary of the scheme, made this known on Tuesday during a visit to the Health Committee of the state legislature in Lafia.
He said that the importance of the scheme to health needs of Nigerians cannot be overemphasized, hence the need for all to embrace the scheme in the state.
“The ultimate goal of this scheme is to attain and achieve universal health coverage to enable civil servants and other residents have access to quality healthcare services.
“If Nigerians have affordable healthcare service delivery, it will go a long way in improving on their health and standard of living
“To be a beneficiary of the scheme, one need to key into the programme through registration in which certain percentage of money will be deducted from his/her salary, that is for the worker.
“And for the individual, they also need to register to benefit in the interest of their health,” he said.
The executive secretary assured of the scheme’s readiness to adhere strictly to the law establishing it for the overall development of the state and the country.
Earlier, Mr Usman Labaran-Shafa, the Chairman of the committee, said the meeting was aimed at interfacing with management of the scheme towards improving the health of the people.
He expressed the determination of the committee to collaborate with all stakeholders in the health sector for effective and quality healthcare service delivery in the state.
