Woman drags husband to court over lack of care

A driver, Odushola Abiodun, was on Friday brought before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly driving recklessly and killing a 25-year-old man.

Abiodun, 47, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of manslaughter and reckless driving, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Nov. 24, 2018 at about 4.00p.m along the Ikorodu Expressway by Tipper Bus Stop at Alapere in Ketu, near Lagos.

Ihiehie said that the defendant drove a Volkswagen LT bus with registration number EKY 892 XX in a dangerous manner, resulting to the death of one Sodiq Adeniyi.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 18 and 20 of RTA Laws of Lagos State.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Kubeinje said that the sureties should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.

She said that the sureties should also show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until March 3.
