A Germany-based tourist, Mr Thomas Dobler, says Epe Fish Market, known as, `Oluwo Market’is a fascinating tourism destination with potential to attract millions of international tourists to the community, if well promoted.
Dobler said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe on Wednesday.
He said:“This is my first visit to Nigeria and I am happy to visit Epe community, most especially the fish market.
“If the destination is well packaged and promoted, it will attract development into the community.
“I am seeing some fishes which I have not seen in my life before; it is quite amazing.“
Dobler said that he had traveled round the world but was amazed by different kinds of nature that he saw in Nigeria, most especially in Lagos and some other parts of South-west zone.
“I love the adventure; I love the experience but not happy with the condition of the facilities and environs at, Oluwo Fish Market, in Epe.“
He said that as a good selling destination, the market environs and facilities supposed to be well tidy and equipped with modern facilities which will attract visitors.
“I believe if this market is properly kept and maintained, it will generate huge revenue to the government, as millions of tourists will love to visit the site.
I enjoyed the local food and fresh fish I ate and I am enjoying the ambience and the infrastructure in Epe.
He urged the state government to upgrade the market facilities to international standard.
“I will advise government to take advantage of the fish market to boost its revenue and also to attract international visitors.
“This development will boost the commercial activities in the community and increase the peoples’ standard of living.’’
Dobler said that he would tell a good story about fascinating Nigerian tourism sites upon his return to his country.
